There is an unfortunate trend appearing in major cities around the United States. And it involves hipsters who (regrettably) are no longer confined to Wicker Park or Brooklyn. If you’re in charge of a dumpster rental Tampa location this is something you’ve got to hear (because its gross) and because it might cause you to reconsider some details of your dumpster security.

I don’t appreciate the hipster mindset, its true. The flannel, the glasses, the arrogance, the fact that they don’t really smile, and the terrible choice of movies have basically turned me off of them forever. Plus, there is no way I would look good in those jeans. I don’t even think girls look good in those jeans. They are not terribly forgiving.

So when I hear that there is something called freegan, a movement of hipster origin, in which grad students and their ilk dumpster-dive nightly and live off the excess food they find, I am rather turned off. I mean, I would be anyway—but the fact that its hipsters crawling around through people’s dumpsters is even worse.

In their defense they do have a point. The general population does throw out a lot of perfectly good food. In fact, the food that they scrounge is thrown away by delis and restaurants inside the normal plastic containers, usually inside separate trash bags. So they don’t really get dirty and the food is clean. But still, no one wants someone digging though their trash, ever. That’s gross. So, more for the hipsters, less for me.
